As we welcome September, we step into a season full of promise, energy, and opportunity. Whether you're starting a new grade, supporting your child’s education, or leading from the classroom or office, September sets the tone for the rest of the year.

My book, The 3 Ships, reminds us that success isn't accidental—it's built on three core principles: Relationships, Leadership and Partnerships. Here's how we can each lean into these “ships” this month to ensure a strong start:

Genuine connections make all the difference. Students thrive when they feel seen and heard. Take time to ask questions, listen deeply, and celebrate progress. Whether you're at home or at school, investing in relationships this month builds trust that lasts all year.

🚢 Leadership – Leading Ourselves and Others
Success in September begins with personal leadership—being organized, showing up prepared, and modeling a growth mindset. Students can lead by setting daily goals; staff can lead by supporting one another and staying focused on impact. Families, your encouragement is leadership in action too.

🚢 Partnerships – Working Together for Student Success
Success is a team effort. Families, teachers, support staff, and leaders all play a role. When we align our goals and communicate consistently, we create a powerful support network for every student.

✨ A Strong September = A Strong Year The habits, mindsets, and connections we build this month will carry us forward. Let’s stay intentional, positive, and supportive of one another as we chart our course together.
